Black Leadership Academy is an enrichment program designed for 3rd-12th graders to provide a broader and more inclusive understanding of American history.
Our goals are to improve racial identity, help children and their parents discover the depth and breadth of Black history, improve academic engagement, college readiness and community engagement.
From September to May the curriculum will focus on Black Literature and how the writings, poems, speeches, lyrics and narratives of black voices have influenced history, movements, and life as we know it today! We have some very exciting guest speakers, and community field trips in the works for this year’s academy, so we hope
you will join us! The curriculum is designed to help children understand this history is fun ways! The students will be divided into three groups 3rd-5th, 6th-8th, 9th-12th most times except for big presentations or activities. Also, this year we are implementing the Black Leadership Academy Student Council to create a collaborative relationship between students and professionals and promote leadership.
